Passed away at home in Petaluma, CA, June 3, 2008, beloved husband of the late Patricia M. “Tish” Battaglia. Loving father of Sharon P. Danowski and her husband, Michael of Prescott, Arizona and David L. Battaglia of Petaluma. Adored grandfather of Erin Hargroder, Diane Schumacher, Lisa Danowski, Venecia Battaglia and Albert Battaglia III. Brother of the late Kenneth Battaglia. Beloved uncle of Jim Battaglia, Cecilia Brown, Craig Miller Jr. and Sandra Miller.

A native of Oakland, Ca. Age 83 years. Mr. Battaglia was reared in Petaluma, graduating from Petaluma High School in 1943, where he was a star athlete, playing quarterback on the championship team. After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps serving in the South Pacific during World War II. After the war, he completed his schooling at Santa Rosa Junior College, Santa Clara University and University of San Francisco. His career was in sales in the heating and air conditioning industry, and was associated for many years with Kresky Manufacturing in Petaluma. Al also served for 13 years on the Petaluma City Council in the late 1960’s and 1970’s. He was an avid golfer and was a longtime member of Petaluma Golf & Country Club, as well as Petaluma Rotary Club and the SIRS.

Friends may visit on Sunday, June 8, 2008 from 11:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. at the Parent-Sorensen Mortuary & Crematory, Petaluma. Family and friends are also invited to meet on Monday, June 9, 2008 at 9:15 A.M. at the mortuary, thence to St. Vincent de Paul Church where a Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Committal will follow at Cypress Hill Memorial Park. The family prefers memorials be made to Hospice of Petaluma, 416 Payran St., Petaluma, CA 94952.
