Queen Anne welcomed our weekly Zoomers and called our weekly
meeting to order, and then asked me to lead the Pledge of Allegiance.
The Usual Suspects showed up for our weekly Zoom meeting. Lou Steinberg was our only visiting Rotarian and it was suggested that he become an Honorary Member! Thanks for being a regular Lou!
Former Prez, Elias Husary, showed up late and our current Prez was led to believe, by Chris Elzi, that Elias was handling the 'Thought for the Day'. After threats of fines, Elias threw Elzi under the The Big Yellow and Blue Rotary Fine Bus and mentioned he had no clue that he was supposed to present the 'Thought for the Day'. He has had many years of practice learning how to deflect his duties being married to Gina: "I didn't know you wanted me to do that honey!"
Elzi, looking quite stunned, especially due to the fact that he was not in attendance, mentioned he will gladly pay for a fine on any given Thursday!
Queen Anne was shocked to learn that Elzi failed to let Elias know that he was responsible for his duties. "I will fine him until the sun doesn't shine!!!" exclaimed Gealta.
All the while, Alex Clark thought it was quite funny! Look to the left of Alex and you will see his Excel spreadsheets tacked to the wall, tracking fines for Gealta's term!
And so did Brandon Trammell... It looks like Brandon took over one of his kid's room so he could zoom!
Rick Gorman thought it was so funny that he decided to write a skit on the fly and had his green screen ready for the camera crew to start filming his masterpiece titled: 'Rotarian goes Rogue - attorney charged with failure to inform'...
Chris Ranney was called upon to Direct the film (he really does look the part - glasses and Director hair-style and all...)!
See what I mean???
Suzanne Tucker informed us about the potential expansion of Helen Putnam Regional Park in West Petaluma. Please go to: https://extendputnampark.org/epp-project/ for further information and to support this great project.
Brett Shinn shared some great information regarding the Covid vaccine.
Charlie Stuart introduced our guest speaker, Karin Albrecht, REI Santa Rosa.
Karin Albrecht, from REI Santa Rosa, gave a great and informative presentation regarding day hiking basics, 10 essentials for backpacking, REI gear and REI's up-coming sale. She also shared a picture of a Fogbow, like a rainbow but made out of fog. The picture was taken at Taylor Mountain Regional Park in Santa Rosa.

Our illustrious President, Queen ANNE GEALTA, zooming in live from the posh confines of the Breen Wealth Management complex (in the Wolf of Wall Street Shearing Room), opened our regular luncheon meeting at precisely 12:32 p.m., and immediately noted that our meeting date was the only day of the year that is actually a command… “March Fourth”!!
That being the case, our Queen
quickly and quite quaintly introduced herself and had your humble editor (MIKE
BADDELEY) lead us in the Pledge of Allegiance.
CHRIS ELZI, himself a barrister of some repute, then channeled his
inner HAL HOLBROCK to deliver our Thought for the Day as only
Mark Twain could have done…had he actually known either Chris or Hal and been
so inclined! Clearly, “Humor is mankind’s greatest blessing”😉!!
The Prez then greeted all our
visiting Rotarians and guests of Rotarians who joined us, and she thanked our
caterer, Sally Tomatoes, for coming through again with another great lunch
selection.
Next, Leland Fishman, the Petaluma Sunrise Club President-Elect, announced that
they are having a wine sale fundraiser featuring fine Wilson Artisan wines at
drastically reduced prices, and a portion of the sale proceeds will be remitted
to the Sunrise Club – please contact Leland if you would like to get some
award-winning wines while they last! Queen Anne the Oenophile then went
on to proclaim “they’re great wines”!!
After announcing that she will present the Crab Feed Summary report next week, the Prez turned the meeting over to the Crab Feed Cartel, led by BRIAN “Bull Market” BREEN and President-Elect RICK “$$Grab” GORMAN, who filled us in on the Super Raffle process and then had the Prez draw out the winning tickets from the spinning drum, with the following results:

The Prez congratulated all of the Super Raffle prize winners, thanked the entire Super Raffle Team and all who participated, and noted that she was very pleased with the level of Super Raffle ticket sales during the pandemic this year.
Sir CHARLES STUART introduced our speaker, Tyler Silvy, the new editor of the Argus-Courier, who gave us a very well received presentation about journalism, the Argus, and how he came to be its editor, followed by a great Q&A session!
From this longtime Petaluman’s perspective, it appears the Argus is in good hands, and we wish Tyler all the best in his new endeavor as its editor.
Queen Anne then raised her gavel to adjourn the meeting, but not before
recognizing that one of her loyal subjects, ELIAS “Blue
Hawaii” HUSARY, joined our meeting from Maui, in his shorts with
cocktail in hand (at 10:30 a.m. Hawaii time, no less)! Our benevolent
Queen suggested he pay a fine, but being the enterprising entertaining
entrepreneur that he is, Elias immediately grabbed a bag of “Bad Ass Coffee”
beans from his daughter (Isabella) to auction off to save his own
wallet!!
After some spirited bidding, BRIAN BREEN gladly paid $100 (is the market good, or what?!) for the beans on the condition that Elias grinds them! Done deal.
After thanking Elias and Brian, Queen Anne reminded us that our speaker next week is from the Sonoma County Water Agency, whereupon she finally let the gavel fall and summarily adjourned the meeting…see you next week!
