A spirited crowd was on hand at Herzog Hall on Friday to enjoy the 84th Annual Farmers and Merchants Night, arguably the best value in town for an evening of food, drink, fellowship, and great raffle prizes. The room was buzzing with warm greetings, including some for friends who haven’t been seen in a while.

Photo

Music was provided by Scott Gerber, whose singing and strumming were a perfect fit for the event.

Photo

President RICK MOSSI somehow managed to capture the attention of the talkative throng and led us in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.

Photo

Sonoma-Marin Fair Manager SARAH CUMMINGS delivered an appropriate thought for the evening, an amusing parable about country and city thinking.

Photo

BARNEY FAUSS kept us in tune for “I’m a Rambler . . .” and “God Bless America”.

Our President pointed out that medical personnel were in attendance in case of emergency and asked those professionals, that is, the veterinarians, to raise a hand and be appreciated.

Photo

Since this was an official club meeting, and knowing that an open bar can be a powerful draw, President RICK asked if anyone in the hall was a Rotarian attending his or her first meeting of the year. PAUL MASELLI made the confession, reputedly good for the soul.

Photo

So did MARCUS BENEDETTI.

Thanks were given to the fine work of event co-chairs BILL GROVERMAN and JAY PALM and teammates STEVE GAVRILOFF and TONY WESTERN.

Kudos went to the kitchen crew for an outstanding meal: RALPH SARTORI, Alan Brodie, Freddie Corda, Bob Moyer, Jim Moreda, Eddie Cardoza, and Lowell Wells. Larry Peters of Petaluma Creamery was thanked for the butter and ice cream.

Special recognition went to the efficient and helpful servers from 4-H and St. Vincent High School.

Photo

As if he didn’t know any better, President RICK brought TAWNY TESCONI to the microphone to provide her unique insights. TAWNY delivered a Top Twelve list (too many gems to trim to a mere ten) of “Ways You Can Tell You’re Dating a Banker and Not a Dairyman”.

Photo

After confirming that a sitting president can indeed be fined by a past one, Past President TAWNY raised some cash for the club by congratulating President RICK on his promotion to regional manager for Exchange Bank’s nine branches, one of which now has $50 less in a MOSSI account.

Photo

Fifteen of those in attendance had their lucky tickets drawn by JAY PALM’s son Jake and left with terrific raffle prizes. Many didn’t seem to want to leave at all, and everyone is looking forward to the 85th F & M Night.
