PRESIDENT RICK called the meeting to order or as he put it “Round 12” or the end of the first Rotary quarter and the third banking quarter.
LOU STEINBERG led our opening song.
MICHAEL NISTLER presented the thought for the day which was an examination of all that happens in one minute in the human brain and the Rotary world.
RICK introduced John Zimmerman and guest speaker Bill Schrader from the Exchange Bank.

Final golf tourney thanks to TARA SMITH aka “Miss Kitty”
September Birthdays (and the birthday table was empty.....) TARA SMITH, JOE TAMBE, DAN LIBARLE, ED FULLERTON, MIKE STAUBER, GARY BRODIE, and PAUL MASELLI.
DAVID SOLO thanked all the members who attended the Boys and Girls Club breakfast.
MIKE STAUBER announced that the youth exchange student, Boone, from Brazil is living at his home for the first third of this year. Next Friday, October 4, there is a barbecue at the Boys and Girls Club for the Blues Buster SF trip that all district youth exchange students will attend. LEE REPOSA, RICK GORMAN, JAY PALM, LOU STEINBERG and TOM BRANDAL will be barbecuing.
NANCY COOLEY presented the club with the Rotary Presidential Citation earned in 2012–2013 during her year as president.
LARRY JONAS paid $40 for modeling his new America’s Cup hat and shirt that he was given when visiting his son at the event. Aaron Jonas was the caterer for the competition.
JUDI ALLEWELT paid $50 in honor of her recent win for best pole dancing at a wedding!
ONITA PELLEGRINI paid $50 in honor of her public dancing in Central Park while on a trip to NY with her daughter and grandson.
KATHY O’CONNER won a bottle of wine in the raffle . . .
. . . and BANO CUMMINGS won homegrown tomatoes and free range chicken eggs from Tara Firma Farms.
DAN FISH introduced our program speaker: Bill Schrader, President of the Exchange Bank. Bill gave an enlightening talk about the lessons learned from the recession.

On a beautiful fall afternoon, the Rotary Club of Petaluma met at the PGCC for 90 minutes of friendship and community building. PRESIDENT RICK MOSSI rang the bell and welcomed the crowd—filled room. Everyone was looking well rested after last week’s Golf Tournament, although some of the tales from that afternoon would suggest otherwise. PRESIDENT RICK MOSSI passed a Thank You card from our local 4H club for our Club’s sponsorship and DAVID SOLO announced an upcoming event for the Boys and Girls Club — so catch up with David for all the details!

The September anniversaries included TAWNY TESCONI, FRED WULFF, BILL GROVERMAN, RICH VAN BEBBER, AL RICHARDS and FRED FROST. Congratulations to all the couples!
PRESIDENT RICK MOSSI gave a recap of the annual Golf Tournament, which this year raised approx. $10,000! The attendance was great, the participation was lively, the dinner was delicious and the number of dedicated volunteers was amazing.
Special recognition was given to Committee Chairs GARY BRODIE and TOM GAMBONINI, who each received a free foursome round of golf.
Additionally, GAIL CARDAROPOLOI, NANCY COOLEY, MARLENE FREETLY, TAWNY TESCONI, TARA SMITH, RICK VAN BEBBER, JAY PALM and MICHAEL NISTLER were saluted for their hard work in organizing this event.

. . . JIM SYMONS into the Club. We congratulate Jim on joining Rotary International and we thank Lou for his everlasting dedication to the Club. PRESIDENT RICK MOSSI has challenged all of us to introduce someone new to the Club. Invite a friend or business associate to lunch with the Club and let them learn about what Rotary does in each community.
The Fine Can made its weekly appearance and LARRY JONAS paid $10 for a lost jacket (valued at $5) and . . .
. . . DAVID SOLO was fined $20 for multiple divots (they were more like gopher holes) during the Tournament and . . .
. . . PRESIDENT RICK MOSSI presented him with a special driver for David’s next golf outing.

DAN FISH introduced our speakers from the Polly Klaas Foundation and they presented a moving and powerful DVD that documented the inception of the Polly Klaas Foundation and the amazing impact that their work has achieved in helping families re—unite with missing children. The Foundation has also been instrumental in helping pass legislation such as the Amber Alert system, which notifies motorists of abducted children, and the implementation of social media as a tool to quickly release information regarding missing and abducted children. Their work in Petaluma has had international impact and they have been quietly doing this work for 20 years! There will be a community building and commemoration event on Oct. 4 and the Community Center at 6:30pm. Please mark your calendars and try to support this amazing foundation that has worked so hard for twenty years to protect our children. God Bless.

After a day of camaraderie, fun, and demonstrations of athletic prowess on the golf course, a large and spirited crowd of Rotarians and guests gathered for the Annual Golf Tournament Dinner at the Petaluma Golf and Country Club.
President RICK MOSSI opened the festivities with the Pledge of Allegiance.
BARNEY FAUSS was called upon to lead us in our club song and “God Bless America”.
JIM McCAFFREY delivered a perfect benediction before the meal.
The Sally Tomatoes food and service inspired many positive impromptu reviews. Anyone who left hungry was either on a very rigid diet or followed the Rota-Teller editor in the food line.
President RICK introduced GARY BRODIE, thanking him for his command of a very successful and enjoyable event. GARY in turn thanked LEE BEAN and JOHN DADO for their contribution of guidance based on many years of experience, TAWNY TESCONI, MARLENE FREETLY, NANCY COOLEY, and GAIL CARDAROPOLI for being indispensably helpful, TOM GAMBONINI and GREG O’BRIEN for marshaling sponsorship support, and HEIDI KIBBE for making the hall look great — not just by showing up but actually decorating the place.
GARY was proud to report that we not only maintained a tradition of providing fun and fellowship but also created significant proceeds that will help our club do good work for others. While GARY spoke in terms of impressive gross dollars, our President (and banker) RICK will remind us that he must stay focused on the net. Stand by for that news.

PRESIDENT RICK MOSSI promptly opened the meeting at the Petaluma Golf and Country Club and we all joined him in the Pledge of Allegiance.
PAST PRESIDENT CLARK ROSEN led us in song, Gypo and God Bless America.
PAST PRESIDENT WALLY BRAGDON gave the thought for the day which was about implementing the great ideas that we have in the shower.
This was followed by our usual hugs and handshakes.
We had numerous guests join us since the word got out that our PRESIDENT RICK MOSSI was doing such an exceptional job running the meetings.
Whit Hall is looking for a few more volunteers to help at McKinley School.
PRESIDENT ELECT MICHAEL CARUANA introduced and discussed the Petaluma Service Alliance’s plan to upgrade and restore Walnut Park. To raise funds for the project they will be selling commemorative bricks for a limited time. Please contact Michael for more information.
THE PREZ started out his fines by calling on ROY MUSICK to explain the new vehicle he purchased and his trip to Carmel. He paid $50.
CHRIS ALBERTSON was then called upon to pay a fine for the statements he made 10 years ago about banning fireworks in our city. He was happy to pay $50 and state that there is no such thing as safe and sane when it comes to fireworks.
JIM McNULTY paid $10 for his lost folio that PRESIDENT MOSSI found. JIM’s excuse for not being at the meetings lately was because his calendar was in the folio. He also told us about his recent backpacking trip and paid an additional fine of $70.
STAN LAWSON was called upon to pay $50 for being awarded the “Best Places to Work” by the North Bay Business Journal.
PAST PRESIDENT BABE AMARAL was put on the spot for not remembering TARA SMITH’s birthday. He started us all out in singing her Happy Birthday so he only paid $20.
The raffle winner was MICHAEL CARUANA.
Chris Elzi won the bonus raffle, fresh free-range eggs from Tara Firma Farms.

. . . Larry Anderson, Petaluma’s Fire Chief. His discussion was about the importance of smoke detectors.
