After STEVE RUSTAD led us in song, . . .
. . . ROBERT MICHELL gave the Thought for the Day. He reminded us not to let the pain of one season ruin the rest of our life. We all go through tough times and we must stay the course and persevere.
PRESIDENT LOU STEINBERG then called on TOM BUCKLEY to announce visiting Rotarians and JOANNE FERRIS and MICHAEL CARUANA introduced their guests.
BANO CUMMINGS announced that this Saturday is Interact gift wrapping day at Kmart. TOM BAKER announced to sign-up through Thursday for the delivery of Holiday gifts to those in need. Next Thursday, 12/20 will also be the Holiday Social Gathering for our club – same time, same place, just more fun. Don’t forget, January 11 is our Day at the Races. See John Dado for more info.
The Santa Rosa Junior College has published a new mailer that includes the Rotary Square on the Petaluma Campus.
ONITA PELLEGRINI announced that the Rotary District dinner will be held on January 12 and she promised a fun time for all attendees.
It is also the time of year to prepare ourselves for the Super Raffle and the Crab Feed. This is our biggest fundraiser of the year and we can’t let PRESIDENT LOU down.
Prizes were handed out for the recent raffle at the Petaluma Realtors Breakfast – some of the winners included ED FULLERTON, DAN LIBARLE, TOM (PRESIDENT NOMINEE) BRANDAL, and ROBERT MITCHELL.
ED FULLERTON also encouraged us to attend this year’s Rotary International Convention, which will be held in Los Angeles June 15 -18.
PRESIDENT LOU STEINBERG then got the fine can out and collected some good money for members’ recent car purchases. The lucky drivers included DAVE BARBIERI, AL CATTALINI, TED ADKINS, AL KAPLAN and ANDY KVALHEIM.
PAUL LOUNIBOS won the raffle and took home some wine.
DAVID SOLO introduced our speaker, . . .
. . . Elece Hempel from the Petaluma People Services Center. Elece gave a wonderful and entertaining talk regarding the activities and goals of the PPSC. Her enthusiasm was only surpassed by her knowledge of the needs many people face in our community. It was a poignant reminder that there is plenty of work to be done within our own community to help those in need. Thank you, Elece.
THE CLUB WILL BE DARK THURSDAY, DECEMBER 27th.

SPECIAL HOLIDAY PARTY EDITION.
This Year's Christmas Party at The Petaluma Sheraton was enjoyed by all who attended. Upon arrival guests were welcomed with a Complimentary Glass of Champagne . . .
. . . and the ladies were given a Red Rose.
The social hour was enjoyed by all as was evident by friendship and laughter. In fact PRESIDENT LOU had to announce several times that it was time to start the formal part of the evening as the food would be served on time.
PRESIDENT LOU asked MICHAEL CARUANA to come forward and start the evening off with a song. Michael did a Great Job in getting the group in the Holiday Sprit.
PRESIDENT LOU then asked LARRY JONAS to give The Thought for The Day. Larry started out by telling us that he had lost his notes and then proceeded to share with the group several past experiences and observations of what Rotary was all about. Larry’s remarks were truly from the Heart and made us proud to be Rotarians.
PRESIDENT LOU then announced that dinner would be served. Before President Lou was seated the staff started serving dinner. The presentation of the food was very professional and from the silence in the room one could tell that everyone was enjoying their dinner. Special Thanks to TOM BUCKLEY and the staff at the Sheraton for there efforts in contributing to a very successful Holiday Party. They had all bases covered: professional staff, hot food served with great flavor, and even special restrooms for the group.
After dinner PRESIDENT LOU asked ROBERT MITCHELL to come forward and led the group in singing some Holiday songs. Robert came forward with his wife Shirley. Robert and Shirley got everyone in the sprit of singing and we actually ran out of songs as everyone was having a great time.
PRESIDENT LOU then announced that it was traditional at the Holiday Party to announce the President Nominee for the coming year. President Lou then asked GOVERNOR ELECT ED FULLERTON to come forward. Governor Elect Ed then explained that a committee of the Past Five Year’s Presidents meets to select the President Nominee and that since he was chairman of the committee he was very proud to announce . . .
. . . this year’s President Nominee TOM BRANDAL. Tom received a standing ovation and made his way forward with his wife Kathy. He thanked the committee for selecting him and assured the club that he welcomed the opportunity to serve as President of The Petaluma Rotary.
PRESIDENT LOU then announced that all were free to enjoy themselves at the dance floor. In no time the dance floor was full and everyone was enjoying themselves either by dancing or socializing.
There are lots more party photos in Ed's Album.
THE CLUB WILL BE DARK THIS THURSDAY, DECEMBER 6th.
