From Nit Anderson, Rotary Club of Petaluma
Dear Bruce,
Today I talked with District Governor 3350, Therasak Suppapan.
Governor Therasak's email address is therasak88@hotmail.com.
He said that one of the current (emergency) Rotary projects is the construction and supply of coffins for foreigners. Wooden coffins for foreigners have to be larger than the standard Thai coffin, so Rotary is supplying wood and labor to have them constructed near the disaster site. So far they have made 600 coffins, but the estimated number of foreigners who have died in Thailand is over 6,000.
The next project is to built a "Rotary Village" to replace a village that has been completely wiped out in Phang Na, which will be named "Rotary Village", but now the most urgent need, he believes, is coffins.
Regards,
Nit Anderson
